Spencer Harrington, who paints under the alias 'RANDOM', is a young urban artist who has exhibited widely in the short time he has devoted himself to being a fulltime artist. He uses an extensive range of usual and unusual materials in stunningly innovative ways. These works have found their way into collections across New Zealand and now into Europe, America and Japan. He is currently exhibiting in New York. Random is now supplying the demands of several fringe and established galleries. Random pushes himself and the visual expectations of the viewer to the limit. Current huge projects include completely covering the iconic 'Fish 'n Chip shop at Piha and has made a new dynamic impact by being given complete creative control of Auckland Universitiy's 'The Hanger' cafe, just opened for the 2009 University year.

Not long afterward, Random moved to Tokyo, Japan for 2 years where he created fulltime. Having teamed up with local fashion labels and cap designers, invited to display his works in collaborative exhibitions across the country, and reporting as the Japanese Correspondent for New Zealand Art and Culture Magazine MORPH among other things, Random really did make the most of his Artistic time in the continuingly inspiring Land of the Rising Sun.

This 2011 he is back and has hit the ground running. Pushing his new found skills in Body Art and Mural Installations, best be keeping an eye out for Random hitting a street corner or gallery near you.
